HourWorld™ and HourWorld™ Lite are based upon the PowerPC processor, and require a Power Macintosh in order to run. The speed of the PowerPC is needed to support the additional twilight graphics calculations performed by the program. An earlier product, WorldClock Desk Accessory, has many of HourWorld's features, and will run on earlier non-PowerPC Macs.
HourWorld™ Lite is a combination "Lite" and "Demo" product. It operates as a "Lite" product in its small display mode, and as a "Demo" product in its large display mode.
In its small display mode, as HourWorld™ Lite, it may serve all the needs of casual users who are located in or near one of the large cities in the HourWorld™ database. The information supplied by HourWorld™ Lite includes local time, time in other cities, lighting conditions around the world, local sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset. Also included are five user-settable clocks, which can be chosen to represent different cities around the world. Those who keep HourWorld™ Lite in their computers in order to use its features are asked to register.
If you are considering registration, you may wish to consider purchasing the full commercial version of HourWorld™ instead. To help in making that decision, HourWorld™ Lite has a demonstration mode, called HourWorld™ Demo. To activate the demonstration mode, click on the size box in the upper right hand corner of the window.
In its large display mode, as HourWorld™ Demo, there are demonstrations of some of the additional features of the full commercial version of HourWorld™, such as the almanac features, as well as a preview of what the large display option looks like.
If you decide to register HourWorld™ Lite, you will receive a fresh copy of the latest version of HourWorld™ Lite software, with a printed manual and without the startup legal notice "agree" screen. HourWorld™ Lite registration is $15.00.
If you decide to purchase the full version of HourWorld™, you will receive a copy of the fully-functional software and a printed manual for $29.95. As there are many of you out there who own both Power Macs and earlier (non-power) Macs, the distribution disk contains both HourWorld™ and the WorldClock DA, with licenses to install both.
